Good for you! But guess what?
More Rent-A-Cops! Three more to be precise, with Pokeballs in hand. Apparently, the Dykell Rep was REALLY put off by you. What are the odds? They are about to release their monsters of choice when suddenly...
Nothing happens. All movement abruptly stops. People in mid punch are standing there, frozen.
"Well, I honestly didn't think that portal was programmed to anywhere specific," a familiar voice says. The man who was at the cave stands up and walks towards Tom Hannibal, unfazed by the temporal impossibility that was occurring around him. "Maybe the old man was paying more attention to what I was saying than I thought," he muses. He stops in front of Tom Hannibal. "Forgive me, I don't believe we've been properly introduced, Tom Hannibal. My name is Leif." He holds out his hand, offering a handshake.

Tom didn't even look towards the offered hand. He merely asked with anger and confusion "What the hell is going on?"

"What's going on in the immediate sense? I'm using a little trick I picked up over the course of my research to talk to you in private. What's going on as in what's the Dykell Corporation doing? Mostly they're getting involved with things that they'd be better off staying away from, while Angela and I take care of a little errand. What's going on with that note you received? I have no definite answers, only theories."
The man starts cracking the joints in his fingers one by one. "Now, are there any other vague and inane questions you'd like to ask, or shall we get down to business?"

"...fine." Tom said grudgingly. He had to go along with this psychopath, at least for now.

Leif glares slightly at Tom. "According to your perceptions, time has abruptly stopped, except for one person talking to you and you think I'm the psychopath?" Leif shakes his head.
"Never mind. Listen, big things are going on. Huge things. World changing things. You saw some evidence of this back while you and your comrades were over in Russia. That's all just the tip of the iceberg as to what's going on. This is something that has been building to a head for millenia."
Leif starts walking out of the room, towards the spiral staircase in the center of the UC. All activity here was likewise frozen. Tom felt compelled to follow, at least as much as he feels compelled to submit to any form of authority.
"Unfortunately for the world, the two people aside from myself who have a good idea about what's going on have disappeared. One of them was the person who left the note for you at the dismantled portal by the WM generator. The other was Harrison Dykell."
"Angela and I have been trying to find Harrison for several years now. It seems as though someone went through a lot of trouble wiping evidence of his existence from the planet. I believe finding him is part of the key to preventing the end of life as we know it."
Tom saw that they had walked down to the Pokecenter in the basement now. "I can't be everywhere at once, however. And I can't be entirely certain that we're not being watched by our enemies: even my skills have limits. Much to your dismay, I can't reveal much more of what's going on. However, I would like you to follow any other instructions given by "R." And if you and your colleagues come across a book or a piece of paper which lists an entire set of coordinates for the portals like the one that brought you here, do not give the information to anyone."
"So, any questions?"

Grudgingly, Tom nodded his head. This 'Leif' may have been part of a manipulative, heartless superpower, but he seemed trustworthy. Granted, 'The end of life as we know it' was an extreme statement, but it took something like that to convince someone like Tom. And besides, the hunt for Harrison Dykell could always be fun.

"Alright."
The enigmatic Leif was about to walk away from Tom Hannibal, when he paused, as if a thought had occurred to him.
"I realize that I haven't apologized for Angela's attack on you and your compatriots when you entered the Portal Chamber of the Falouf Library Compound. She was always a little more...tempermental, for want of a better term, than her brother. She was entrusted with the care of this Pokemon's family many years ago. I would like you to take it."
Leif hands Tom Hannibal a black Pokeball with a stylized "R" on it. As soon as Leif hands Tom Hannibal this Pokeball, he vanishes without a trace. The world starts moving again.
"Hey, Tom!" shouts a voice from behind. It's Ethan, who is sitting with Pierre, Jeff, and another young trainer. "When'd you get back down here?"
