If neither have any remarkable skills then it can go either way.

Smaug is vicious, greedy, Stronger, older and bloodthirsty, and Saphira is calm yet furious, young, hasn't fully developed yet, and sometimes has some mental (telepathic) powers. (I'd rate it enhancement in clix, and it's not usually used on enemies, more like using it to boost the powers of the Rider)

Eragon's a really great book, you (and everyone else) Should read it BEFORE the movie, because MOST movie adaptions of books are not as good as the books.

Great. I agree.
I hate famous books. Its more fun readin books before anyone else and loving them.
Like I read the entire 7 books in the "Samurai Girl" series last summer and wasted.
