Spelunking is exploring caverness locations. It's not slang, or an expression. It is a legitmate word in English. Look it up if you don't believe me. Let me guess: "you can't be bovved to look it up." Oh yeah, I've heard of that before. I steer clear of anything to do with exploration especially of caves/mountains. I hate the gun laws in the US. We were talking about them in R.E, because of the whole Virignia thing and I was like.."What are they playing at?" 1 handgun a month?! And it's not strictly illegal to sell guns to minors?! (In Virginia) Just effing ban them and get over it. Most of these shootings and murders wouldnt happen if guns werent readily available to (allmost) anyone. Hi. Virginian here. Parts of Virginia are very woods heavy, and a lot of people like to hunt. There is a mandatory waiting period in which they do a backround check. If the person hasn't done anything wrong before, but is PLANNING to go on a psychopathic rampage, not a whole lot the store can do to figure that one out. And long before this shooting, we had several fairly publicized child abduction cases that went on for about a decade. Families bought guns to protect themselves.

Yeah, but loads of places don't even do Background checks. It's just scary when you walk through Wal-Mart, past the baby clothes section, and into the murder tools section. I'm not even going to bother.

Well it's under the same roof. Baby clothes/toys...Guns/Various Weapons. Yes, but the guns are in the sporting goods department. It's not like your walking down the aisle seeing a shotgun next to a Barbie doll. Besides, all of the firearms are kept unloaded in a locked plexiglass case. Guns aren't the problem. People have been been murdering each other for centuries before guns were ever created.

Yeah, I'm just saying its shocking for a British person/ conscientious objector to war/firearms.
It was an exxageration. And it's probably more poignant for me than the people that actually live there.

No, because the people who live here actually know what is going here.

And some of the people here have friends who saw the people get taken out of VA tech in body bags. And some of us have family members who had to regularly investigate shootings. And some of us have met small children who look forward to joining gangs and getting guns just for the sole purpose of getting shot up all because they can't see anything better.

As funny as the above is, it has some truth to it.

And that is very sad, I would never argue against that, but banning guns wouldn't keep lone nuts from doing tragic things. Crazy people will continue to do crazy things, and I agree that full automatic machine guns make craziness more accessable, but there's really nothing you can do to rid the planet of guns, except for destroy every gun in the world.

That was in response to his statement of gun violence being 'more poignant', not a plea to ban guns. If the world were completely devoid of violence and guns were unnecessary, I would be a happy man. But, as it stands, there are crazies who will find a way to get access to some sort of weapons and hurt people. Guns are there to stop him.
