Perhaps the best way to start things in this forum is to declare what you are.
Phillip:
-A bit of a left-wing Non-Denominational Christian -Tend to be a republican (although I consider my self American, not Republican)

I dont give about politics, as long as it doesnt affect my life I'm cool with it.
I am agnostic, my mum is catholic and my gran is very catholic. I don't think its my place to disagree with people who take religion seriously. I cannot say no god exists when there are people in India who dedicate their whole life to god.
I think discrimination is pointless, and I hate it when minorities get all upset that they are minorities. All the gay pride stuff is stupid IMO.

Wow, Chair and I actually have something in common, as I'm agnostic, too.
ReZ, there's a lot of different takes on what it means to be agnostic. Mostly, it means that you believe that the existance of God is unknowable. For othercontend that it means that you believe that God does exist, but you don't practice a specific religion. There are also some agnostics who believe that questioning the existance of God is meaningless, as the belief in God has no consquences.
Personally, I believe that there is no way to prove that God exists or not, as the very concept of religion is based solely on faith. Also, I believe that God is so much larger than human beings, and we would not be able to comprehend something that is that much larger than ourseleves. I also believe that some being created our exsitance as we know, simply because I cannot comprehend how completely chaotic events can create the solar system as we know it.

(Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is a Republican?) In America, a Republican is a Diplomatic party. The opposing party is generally Democratic.

Democrat. Republican. To me, I really don't care which party you belong, as I feel it's like comparing a giant douche to a turd sandwich...

I am, and fully proud to be a republican.
I also am split on the whole "is there a god" thing. I tend to not believe in him but sometimes I find myself calling out to him.

(Great sub-forum, btw, ReZ!)
Politically, I'm very interested in what goes on, but moreso with culture and society than just politics.
For me, I'm rather bizarre in that I tend to lean very far left politically or very far right politically depending on the issue.
I can't really call myself a "Democrat" or a "Liberal" or any other polical term, since it doesn't really describe me. I'd say that the perfect term to describe me would be "Conservative Socialist", which of course, seems rather oxymoronic. But it's who I am.
As for religion, I'm a great believer that people are seriously messed up. Like, that the world is full of sin. One only needs to read a newspaper every day to see how messed up the world is due to human efforts. However, when you consider people like Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi, you start to wonder why people couldn't always be like that. The world would be a better place. So I believe that people by nature are "sinful", I also believe that they can rise above it like Gandhi/MLK. So I'm not one of those people who says "all people are evil.... so yadda-yadda". I believe that people have it to be very good.
Part of my belief and cynicism in the inability of people to be good is because I've grown up with some interesting life experiences.... I'll share them later. All said, such experiences made me see the dark side of human nature.
I feel that the main way for people to become better people is through spirituality. I don't mean religion. I mean, I think people need something that makes sense to them to feed some of the curiosity and questioning that goes on within someone.
I've studied religions and stuff, and right now, what makes sense for me right now is Christianity. I honestly can't say if I'll feel that way forever, but I know right now that's what's making sense to me.

Round 1!
Aaaaaaaand..Fight!
..
I hate politics. All i know is that everyone hates blair. My mum likes the lib dems, and they sound pretty fun. Im bascially nothing though.
Mmm..I like went to church (protestant *gasp* Looks at Chairs family* for like 2 years, but like only for the youth group thingie. That got boring after I realised everyone there was wierd and slightly perverted. So i left, though the youth worker guy keeps emailing me with letters telling when to come in and stuff. He kindof needs to get a life. I like told him twice i'm over church.
I would love to believe in a god, but I can't. I beleive this is who i am, since my greatest fear is where we go once we die, so really, being religious and that goes hand in hand. I just can't. I was wiccan for about 3 weeks then gave up.
I prefer like beleiving in spirits of things/ not really.
In conclusion, I'm an Atheistically inclined Agnostic, who doesn't know who's prime minister.

I'm not into politics what so ever and I pretty much don't get religion. I'm still confused. I'll get back to you later.
