1. Street Fighter II. Best fighter, hands down. 2. Marvel vs Capcom II. Pretty damn good 3. Soul Caliber II. Fun 4. Super Smash Bros Melee. Unbalanced as all hell, unlike SSB 1. 5. Tenchu. Not a fighting game. But if we want a real list? Street Fighter II Marvel vs Capcom II SSB Tekken....3? Not tag, or the new smooth graphics one, but the one before that. Soul Caliber, Tekken, and Capcom fighters are fun in general. Fighters that sucked? The Justice League for SNES. The computer is so freaking cheap, and you can still beat the whole game just by ducking and kicking. Laaaaaame. Any Mortal Kombat game. The 2d ones were a novelty. Except special moves and fatalities (which are no longer impressive) every character was the exact same. Pitiful. The 3d ones are okay, but they are still making characters that are the exact same and the quest modes are terrible. If I wanted to learn how to do all the special moves, I would have looked in the instruction manual or paused the game. Why on earth would you create a quest mode that was all about learning the special moves of every character? The only redeeming quality of these games is the weird board game in the second 3d MK.

1. Super Smash Bros. The game you can play over and over again. Perfectly combines Fighting and Party games.
2. Soul Calibur 2/3
I never really mastered it, but it still rocked.

If you decide the best fighter ever based on a demo, then you haven't played enough fighters, methinks.
