I have not seen carp like this since I was in high school; in other words, since I was teaching it full-time last year. And much like my experiences, it seems like this will end with fists flying and a bunch of weave on the floor. But on the chance that you guys can come to your senses, I have a few words:
Luke - I hope I'm still on your friends list even though I haven't called or PMed you in the last two weeks. I was trying to wait until LA so I could talk to you in person, but now it seems like you might die of the flu. If we really boil everything down, your beef is a personal one with Aaron, so there's really no reason to air it with anybody but him (and if he won't return your messages, just wait it out and enjoy the friendships you have). Since you are pretty adamant about not returning to HCRealms, there's no reason to talk about past events there anymore. Leave it behind and get a fresh start.
Frontman - I'm not saying this makes you a bad person, but I am really disappointed by your behavior here. It's not any worse than Luke's, but he is not a moderator elsewhere. Yes, you can use the "off-the-clock" reasoning all you want, but just because I can show up drunk at the movie theatre my students go to doesn't mean I should. You are a representative of HCRealms in the same vein that Envoys are representatives of WizKids, and when people see you threatening and provoking on here, it doesn't exactly make them want to rush over to HCR (and while the Ro3 community isn't very large, you better believe word gets out to others across the country). As for your legal threats towards Luke at WWC, I think we both know any policeman who learned the background and saw this thread (and believe me, they would learn about both) would end up slapping BOTH of you with disorderly conduct tickets if something happens.
Rock - Thanks for trying to right the ship. I know some others had similar intentions, but it's good to see a moderator giving it a shot.
Everybody Else - Personally, I don't think HCRealms is a police state. It's just not run the way each individual would like it. It's not perfect, but then again, it's being run by volunteers. And you need to remember that those volunteers are human, having good and bad days like everyone else. On a personal level, I've found the moderators to be excellent communicators when dealing with them. I do think moderators are hamstrung because they don't have any training. They need to understand that disaffection for authority is a natural state, defending themselves for every action is a waste of time, and avoiding power struggles is most important of all.
Finally, you know things must be messed up when I try to be the voice of reason...
