I hate missionaries.
Why doesn't God just tell the people of Africa?

If you're a Miltonian Scholar, the answer to that question is that God designed people to have free will. Consider this: God could've made everything as infallible as he is. We could all just be sitting there, praising him like angels. And yet he didn't. Why? Because that would've ultimately been a pointless and masturbatory exercise. In the words of Milton, God made us "sufficient to stand, but free to fall," (Paradise Lost, Book 3 I believe), in order for us to be able to prove if we actually love him. That's why Christianity is based on faith. The same way, if God just went to people in Africa or wherever, and said, "I'm God, worship me mortals," it would take away the free will aspect that he put into humanity. Who says British Lit is a worthless class that you'll never use in real life?  |

I don't give a shit about that, really..
It's just the fact that these people are taking way too seriously. If you're going to go to Africa as a missionary, actually help people, rather than actually killing them.

More on mission work:
Being a missionary isn't always about spreading the word of God and teaching. Just as often, if not more often, it's about helping people out, making life more bearable for others. For example, I know one man, a doctor, who frequently goes on mission trips to Africa in order to give health care services. And I've been on several around the US. Some of the stuff I and others have done include office work, fixing up houses, mowing the lawns of the elderly, picking up trash, cleaning out the apartments of the recently deceased, preparing meals in a homeless shelter, working in a youth center (similar to a YMCA), and even something as simple as giving an ice cream cone to a tired traffic worker. Preaching was only a small part of the mission work I've done.

I was just saying some of these chatolic missionaries are going to poor parts of the world that are rife with aids, and instead of educating people on family planning and such, they're saying it's against God to use condoms.
So in effect, they're just encouraging AIDS. Great one.
