Since I can't get into the CG section while I'm at work (only forum, wtf?) I figured I'd go ahead and post my review of what I think are the best "Bricks" in HC... Call it a rough draft:
Standard Bricks:
Bricks that just won't stop:
Bricks you can head a 300 point team with:
Standard Bricks:
- Cain Marko- Epitome of brick, the best basic brick there is out there.
Captain Britain- Beat out Superboy, nearly same price, but Impervious and higher base damage beat him out
Ulik- One of the best of the SS CCE charge bricks, AV is high and stays high.
SoD Superman- Underestimate him and you're dead. He may lack range, but with a damage that never truly drops below 4 and a useable AV throughout, his weakest point is his defense numbers, at least starting out. If remade today, for the same cost, he'd have 2 fewer clix of imperv, but 3 or 4 clix of invuln to follow it up
Sub Mariner- A fairly straightforward brick, but his rebounding stats help to push him toward the top
The Thing- Brick, through and through, from skin to bone. Ben here is one of those figures who can almost always hurt anyone.
Cage- A cheap brick that actually works. He's not a durable as these others, but he can certainly deal his damage and make up the point difference, Spidey TA doesn't hurt either.
Sentry- The highest point basic brick, but he can certainly pull his weight. The damage that can bulldoze most figures is all over our cosmic pal here.
She-Hulk- See Cage, only better and a bit more pricey. A deadly monster of a piece for a relativly cheap price
Atlas- The only giant that I could say much that's nice about. The only giant with imperv. For most figures, charge quake isn't quite as good as SS, but for a giant, being able to hit within 2 squares can be devastating.
Best Brick Buster Bricks
Magog: THE killer brick. The first figure that can kill any other, regardless of damage reducers, in one hit, and an attack that says "almost always"
Rookie Thunderball- Specifically the rookie. He's the best for his points. Has a higher starting damage than his counterparts and more charge too.
Persuader: Nyeun here may not have SS to bring his damage up to destroy his opponents, but he still has a powerful 4 damage with EW. His high attack also gives him a good chance of breaking most defenses. Atomic axe, fools.
Mongul: You may ask me why he's on this particular list, but there is a very good reason. Mongul has no powers to bypass damage reducers, not even CCE to boost his damage, but he doesn't need it. Mongul is the only normal sized character I know of who can deal at least 3 unmodified damage throughout his entire dial. The range is a boon for him, people seem to forget he has an 8...
Zod: Again, you'll ask me why. Zod is a bit overcost thanks to his TA, but that seems to make little difference to him. Zod is a massive danger all down the dial, with a dial nearly filled with CCE. A true danger from him, though, is his enormous 10 range, able to strike at nearly any brick while staying outside of their range or charge.
Bricks that just won't stop:
- Wonder Woman: Icons WW especially, a huge up-front damage, charge, super strength and impervious with good numbers all around. Everything you could ask for in a brick with great numbers to boot. The truly dangerous part about her is that she cannot be ignored. Invuln, toughness and willpower with more SS and charge and incap on down the dial. If you don't KO her, then you are not done with her yet.
Super Woman: WW with more Imperv, higher number and built in PC.
Power Girl: See WW for most of the same, only a bit more durability and the ability to copy more defenses from her teammates to bring her dwindling numbers back up.
Bricks you can head a 300 point team with:
- Black Adam: You knew this was coming. BA has been the premier HSS SS monster for years and even at half of your team, he'll still be able to kill anything that you need him too, as long as you support him well enough, not even superman is an obstacle for this beast.
Wonder Woman: Easy, she's cheap enough to reinforce, but strong enough to wipe the floors with.
The Thing: Cheap, strong and durable, prereqs for heading a 300 pointer.
Doctor Leonard Samson: What? He didn't make the other lists, but he's here? Well, this LE, and the vet too, but not as much, don't really fit into the standard categories, but he can head a team nicely. Durable, perplex and high number, L/C to get away and more perplex at the end. Not too shabby.
Super Woman: Brings the hurt and can be her own support crew, paired with pogs, she can PC every turn and make sure she hits every time...
